Teaching needs to be more than passing out worksheets. Whether you are the classroom teacher, instructional specialist, or parent, the methods you use greatly impact the level of understanding achieved by your students.
What is an Excel Worksheet? An Excel worksheet is electronic ledger created by the spreadsheet application Microsoft Excel. Worksheets are used to allow their users to store edit and manipulate data within rows and columns divided into cells. Worksheets also allow users to create easy to create calculations and logical functions to perform specific functions for each specific worksheet. Worksheets allow users many unique and common ways to sort and filter endless amounts of data. This data can be import and export to and from various resources.
What are the Features of a Worksheet? Worksheets provide Excel users with many features. The primary feature provided by worksheets is the ability to store edit and manipulate data in one central location. However, with the creation of worksheets users can now calculate many simple and complex math and financial problems as well as display their stored data with many unique custom charts and graphs.
Now, as a former teacher I am not saying that one should never use math worksheets; however, I do believe that many teachers are using a very superficial method of instruction that relies too much on low-level math worksheets and hands-off instructional approaches. Worksheet lessons move from reading the directions aloud, to doing sample problems as a group, to completing the worksheet independently (or at home with parents), day in and day out.
The Worksheet Before Double Click event will run a script of code when a user double clicks on that specific worksheet. This event will work on all versions of Excel. This can be useful if you want to run a macro for a certain cell every time you double click on that cell. You can also use this event to load a macro any time you double click anywhere in the worksheet.
Check the basic layout of the worksheet before buying it. Is the layout cramped or well spaced? How good are the visuals on the page? Can they keep the attention of little children? What is the quality of the content on the worksheets? The text for example, should not contain long sentences. This can make it difficult for the child to read. The language should also be simple so that children can understand what is written. Other things to look for are the quality of paper used and the packaging of the worksheets.
